This year’s CFC-SFC ICON has been one of the most looked after events of history. In its 8th year, it is the first time for Palawan to host the event. February 13-15, the coliseum was filled with more than 5,000 SFCs gathered for this year’s theme – Love More.
Participants from different parts of the country and from all over the world, has filled the coliseum with praises and worship. Singing on top of their lungs, these individuals has so much spirit that left no room for harassments (of the enemy). It was very successful. Truly, all things done for the glory of the Lord, will be victorious. And all that dwells from the His name will continue to experience the fullness of life apart from living. DAY1- Opening & Welcome Remarks
Good thing, we were on the same flight with my co-delegates from Davao. Bound to Puerto Princessa Airport, we landed 6:00 PM. We headed to Brendalie’s Guest House and settle our luggage. After a quick shower and diner we went to the venue just right in time. (@ Brendalie’s Guest House)
Since Day 1 starts on the evening, most of the participants had enjoyed their stay earlier. Pre-ICON as they have called it. Known to its wondrous tourist spots, there are a lot of places you can enjoy in Palawan. That’s why there are some who have come to Palawan 2 days before the event, to enjoy the El Nido, Underground River, etc.
During the program, the mayor of Palawan had welcome the participants. Apart from the local participants, we have international delegates from countries like Canada, China, Singapore, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Australia.
Highlights of the evening was the sharing of ample number of SFCs who unfold their experience that mirrored us all. It was so inspiring. Despite the dark days of their life, they were able to overcome it with full trust to the Lord. Indeed God is so merciful. And He provides abundance for those who lift their lives to Him. DAY2-Workshops/Seminars
There’s a lot to look forward on the 2nd day. Workshops are one most enjoyable during ICON. The different workshops rooted from the theme “Love More”. It started in the afternoon and lasts for about 3 hours and a group sharing right after.
I’d like to share my personal experience during our workshop. Originally, my workshop was Colors of Love, which is actually a painting workshop. However it was cancelled during the event. And we were given list of available workshop in lieu of the latter mentioned. I chose Free Love Workshop. I was a little disappointed (because of the cancelled Colors of Love Workshop) but never thought I would enjoyed Free Love so much.
We were being scattered to Bayan Public Market to perform random act of kindness. We came across a flower vendor. Since its Valentines, roses are everywhere. The Ale was around 20s. She was seated quietly on a corner. She was with 2 other flower vendors. The other one was at her 40s and the other one is more older, probably on 60s already. We were 3 on a group, one male, 2 female. The male one was from Metro Manila, the other female was my co-delegate from Davao. The male one interviews the vendors and we (ladies) sell the flowers they have.
We were calling out customers even as far as from the other side of the road. People strolling down the street are viewing us in shock, but we didn’t care, more so we have enjoyed it. Haha! It was a good feeling when you are able to invite customer to purchase, and helped Ate sell some of her items. After few sales , time to go… We prayed over the 3 vendors we met from there. Wherever they are today, we are wishing them good health always.
The night is approaching. Everybody is excited for the Masquerade! DAY2 Night activity will always be Club Praise. Everybody is wearing their best + their masks on. Unfortunately, I wasn’t informed. But, I was able to bring a dress atleast haha! We enjoyed sooo much the jamming!
There was a love knot and a fake wedding booth there. Where one of our co-delegate from Davao was caught and wedded infront of a funny priest (fake).
The praises continued after the multiple jamming sessions. And that moment of faith, has filled the venue with so much spirit, overflowing joy and thanksgiving of this once in a year experience. Not all are given chances to experience the event. We have friends who had booked their flights ahead and yet where not able to make it.
After the event, around 11 pm, I had no idea why some of our colleagues had arranged us below the fountain area at the park just in front of the coliseum. I was surprise to see, bro. Max has knelt down in front of sis May lifting his right hand with an opened box. GOSH!!!!! It was a proposal! Feb 14 was a history. After 10 years being together, finally they’ll jump off to another stage – CFC na sila, ayieee.. hehe.
Ending – at the dorm, we were on our pantulog on but sis May still in her dress on, talking repeatedly that very moment of proposal. Kilig much!! We were able to sleep very late that night. DAY 3 – LAST DAY OF THE PROGRAM
Every last doesn’t means an end. Just as this experience. Day 3 might be the end of the event, but a beginning to last a lifetime. An intimate experience with the Lord that brings forth a starting point of turning our lives around. It is a continued journey of spreading the LOVE of the LORD. It doesn’t just stop from the four walls of the coliseum. Thus extends to the infinite silver lining across nations, across blood. This experience is a worthwhile. The momentum might had decelerate at this time, but this was the moment where we were filled… even overflowing of faith, courage and obedience to the Lord.
We were built ready. The world is huge. Random is the enemy against the Lord. We may be weakened, we may fail. But one thing we should always remember, victory doesn’t speaks for consistent winning. It’s how you fight for the battle. Our saints had died, but they died for the glory of God. So as we. Continue to fight even its hard. God once says, push that big rock ahead of you. But He never says you should move it.
I believe this whole experience of ICON is all about that. We gather to refuel ourselves, the true battle is outside. We were quarantine for 3 days to be HEARTS-READY.
It was again a very wondrous ICON I have experienced the second time around. The third is soon to come. I claim it oh Lord. With your grace… Singapore here we come!
